The Business Development Associate is responsible for assisting in the origination of debt investments in commercial real estate with a focus on construction financing. Twain’s specialty finance products include ground lease capital, commercial property assessed clean energy (C-PACE) lending, and Historic Tax Credit (HTC) equity. As an integral member of Twain’s investments team, the Business Development Associate will work closely with the Vice President of Business Development and third-party professionals to successfully develop a strong pipeline of new business and investment opportunities. This full-time position is located on the west coast and will require approximately 15-25% travel.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop strategic relationships with real estate developers, brokers, and third-party professionals
• Prepare and negotiate project-level term sheets
• Assist with initial project review, underwriting, and closing matters
• Review statutes and program guidelines to identify new markets
• Regularly coordinate with internal underwriting, project management, and asset management teams

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, real estate, or finance
• 2-5 years of relevant experience preferred
• Applicants must be extremely detail oriented
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related products
• Strong writing, analytical and communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and be driven by a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to meet deadlines
• Must be able to work independently but also in a team environment
